That is right fans… Get ready to burn his jersey for the first… wait this has happened before.
LeBron James, 33 years old agrees to a four-year, $154 million deal with the Los Angeles Lakers.
The four time MVP, three time Finals MVP, and fourteen time All Star is heading out to the West.
Instead of taking his talents to South Beach, LeBron is taking his talents to Hollywood.
After taking time to talk about this with his camp, family, and agent, he decided the Lakers is his best option. I can only imagine the advertisements and endorsement deals he will have wearing a gold and purple jersey.
However, earlier in the week it was reported he did not want to sign until another big name signed or was truly interested.
With James signed it will be interesting to see who Lakers GM, Rob Pelinka will put around him. With a young, yet talented team in LA, they will still have to move pieces to be a contending team.
Or the other option, which is keep their current players and wait a year for a bigger season of free agency. Next season players like Klay Thompson, Karl-Anthony Towns, Carmelo Anthony, and Dwight Howard will be free agents.
The only problem with that is, can the aging LeBron put a season on hold, or throw away to be a contender the following year. There is no way LeBron can wait though, with aging it leaves the options for a greater risk if injury, and that is not a luxury James can afford.
However, a season might be the saving LeBron needs. Think about it, Golden State Warriors just signed Kevin Durant with a deal, and like I mentioned Klay is not a free agent until 2019.
They will be favored to win next year, with the only threat to them being Boston coming out of the Eastern Conference, unless the 76ers can beat them.
