Jimmy Garoppolo up and down in 1st Pre-season Game

I think every sports media outlet in the entire country last night(Including us) reported that Quarterback Tom Brady surprisingly started in the Patriots first pre-season game of the year (Green Bay in Foxboro), amid reports nearly confirming the contrary, in the latest chapter in his deflate gate controversy.

I also think that now that we’ve had a night to pick our jaws up off the floor, we can now talk about what’s really important, that is, the actual pre-season game.

Tom Brady made his start last night that resulted in a non-worthy 1-4 for 10 yards, his only completion came on a well excecuted slant route to wide receiver Brandon Gibson. Tom Brady would leave the game for good mid way through the 1st quarter.

Rookie Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo would enter the game at the start of the second quarter and finished the game from that point on.  Garoppolo finshed a very “Ehhh” game going 10-20 throwing for 150 yards, zero scores and an interception late in the game. Contrary to New England’s usual reserved dink and dunk passing game,  Garoppolo seemed over agressive throwing the ball deep  on more than just few occasions.  That late intercept was on a long ball.

For new England fans who are going to be quick to pull there own respective plugs on Gar0pp0lo, consider that during his college career,  Garoppolo often  played virtually without a playbook. Obviously this type of sophistication that New England brings as far as it’s system isn’t going to come easily to any rookie quarterback.  One who virtually winged it for his college career, it will take time for Garopolo to develop into the quarterback that New England and Coach Bill  Belichick want.

Final:  Green Bay 22 and New England 11
