Any professional team needs to work on their fitness levels to stay at the top of their game. Here’s how to create a workout plan and stick with it for success!

Did you know that less than 5% of adults participate in at least 30 minutes of physical activity each day?

It is essential to create a workout plan in order to stay fit. Any professional team needs to work on their fitness levels to stay at the top of their game. Here are five ways to establish a workout schedule and stick with it for success!

1. Set a Goal

The best place to start any workout plan is with a goal. Work with your teammates to set a goal for the team as well as individual fitness goals.

Individual fitness goals may include:

Fat loss
Muscule gain
Increased endurance
Ability to lift more weight

Team goals may include:

Working out together a set number of times per week
Winning the league championship
Making it to the semi-finals

Write down your goals in order to hold yourselves accountable. You are 42% more likely to achieve your goals if you write them down!

2. Create a Workout Plan

Now that you’ve written down your goals it’s time to create a workout plan. Start with selecting how many times per week you’ll workout. A calendar template can be useful to map out your workout schedule.

In your workout plan identify how many times, and when, you’ll work out with your team versus on your own.

3. Choose your Workout Location

Next, you need to select your workout location and type. Will you workout at home, at a gym, or at a recreation complex?

The location of your workout will likely depend on the type of workout you’d like to complete. There are pros and cons to each location.

Home Workout

A home workout routine offers flexibility in time, convenience, and at a low cost. Home workouts can be limited due to lack of equipment and space.

Gym Workout

Gym’s have many benefits including a wide range of equipment, fitness classes, and professional support. However, gyms can come at a hefty price tag that may not fit into your budget.

Recreation Complex Workout

When working out with your team you will likely use a recreational complex for the convenience of fields, pools, and large workout facilities. Recreation complexes are unfortunately not always available in your local area or maybe exclusive to members only.

4. Select a Realistic Workout Plan

It is important to be realistic when creating your new workout plan. Working out should fit comfortably into your schedule in order to sustain it in the long run.

Don’t try to go from 0 to 100. It is important to take it slow in the beginning and incorporate the workouts into your lifestyle.

5. Stay Motivated

A perfect workout plan always include practical gears to help runners stay at peak performance. Compressors, runningshorts, hydration packs, sports bra, running shoes, etc are some of the equipment you need to include in your list.

The last hurdle when you create a workout plan is staying motivated. Motivation is key when working out and living an active lifestyle. Remember to use your teammates as accountability partners.

When you need extra motivation consider switching up your workout routine. It’s easier to be motivated when you’re excited about something new in the workout plan.
