Heat vs. Celtics Preview
- Updated: May 27, 2012
With both teams full of injuries and for both teams to be in the Eastern Conference finals, is a testament to how good of talent these two teams have. With Miami beating a much gamed Indiana Pacers team who lead the series 2-1 at one point it looked like Miami was done and headed for a second round exit until LeBron James and Dwayne wade turned it on won three games in a row to end the series.
With Boston, it was even more tough; they took on a more younger, more explosive, Philly team, and took them seven games. Nobody saw that happening, but on the shoulders of Rondo’s triple double back in the Conference finals facing a familiar foe. Miami beat Boston in five games in last year’s Eastern Conference semifinals, and the Celtics took three of four games from Miami this season. Both sides cautioned against reading too much into any of those results.
The Celtics will be without shooting guard and defensive specialist Avery Bradley, who underwent shoulder surgery last week and won’t be available to defend Wade. Boston is also dealing with Ray Allen’s lingering ankle injury that has affected his play and will require surgery after the season.
On the other side, the Heat aren’t expected to have Chris Bosh for the series as the perennial All-Star forward continues his methodical recovery from a strained abdominal muscle he sustained in Game 1 of the semifinal series against Indiana. But Bosh did go through some drills today.
There will be no excuses when these two teams lock it up Monday night; this is one of the more bitter rivalries in the NBA, expect it to be physically tough, and down to the wire.
I believe the team that plays the best defense and controls the rebounds will win this series. This is not for the weak at heart, because these two teams come to play one another.
My prediction is that LeBron and D-Wade will have another great series. I also believe James Jones will awake for this series, because he normally plays well vs. Boston. The Heat will win in 6.
