Hairston signs with Chicago

Scott Hairston
Outfielder Scott Hairston will be staying in the National League next season as he has agreed to sign a two-year deal with the Chicago Cubs. The deal is said to be worth up to $6 million and is pending a physical. The 32 year-old right harnder will be patrolling the outfield with Alfonso Soriano and David DeJesus.
Last year for the Mets, Hairston hit .263 with 20 home runs and 57 RBIs. His ability to get on-base against lefties added to his value. Hairston will probably not be starting but will probably get enough playing time to get up to the plate over 300 times. His batting against left-handed pitchers will surely help the Cubs, as they really struggled against left-handed hitting last year hitting a terrible .230.
