Dodgers Walk Past Cubs in NLCS Ending 29-year Drought

Last year we were able to witness history as the Chicago Cubs came back from a three game to one deficit against the Cleveland Indians in the 2016 World Series. After 108 years the curse of the billy goat was finally raised off the shoulders of the Chicago Cubs organization.

In the 2016 NLCS, the Cubs defeated the Dodgers to bring them to the World Series.

Just a year later things changed.

In the 2017 season, the Los Angeles Dodgers took the league by storm. They finished the 2017 regular season with an outstanding record of  104 wins and only 58 losses (Best in MLB). To put it into perspective how great this record is; the Arizona Diamondbacks had the 4th best record in baseball. Arizona finished in 2nd place, 11 games behind the Dodgers in the NL West.

The Dodgers were a force to be reckoned with.

Los Angeles proved this was not like any other year. This was actually their year to make it to the World Series.

The Dodgers came into the playoffs winning six games before losing one. The Dodgers swept the Arizona Diamondbacks in the NLDS (3-0) and got up three games on the Chicago Cubs before losing Game 4 of the NLCS.

Going into the NLCS the Dodgers were faced with of their biggest trials, The Chicago Cubs. The Cubs defeated the Dodgers four games to two in the 2016 NLCS. Many were skeptical of what the Dodgers would be able to do against them.

The Dodgers proved any negative thoughts wrong.

The Dodgers jumped up on the Cubs in the first three games, outscoring them 15-4. The dominant pitching rotation of Clayton Kershaw, Rich Hill, and Yu Darvish took advantage of a cold hitting Cubs lineup.

Chicago then took game four in a home run shootout, winning 3-2 with all the runs being solo home runs. The Dodgers now lead the series 3 games to one.

Going into game five the Dodgers looked to finish the Cubs off. Which they did by a long shot.

The Dodgers won 11-1.

With a great offensive game by Dodgers left fielder Enrique Hernandez, hitting three home runs, one being a grand slam, the Dodgers walked all over the Cubs.

This ended a 29-year drought for the Dodgers, not being able to make the World Series since 1988, this gives them a huge confidence boost.

It is not over yet. The Dodgers will now face the Houston Astros after a great seven game series against the New York Yankees. The Dodgers look to win the World Series against a hot Houston lineup.

Everyone knows, “It’s Time For Dodgers Baseball.”
