In any sport it is important to have a good front office. A team needs a good Owner so that they can have someone looking over all decisions. They need a General Manager to help recruit new players for their teams.
Some teams have turned different directions on who to look towards to make big decisions. The Phoenix Suns are one of these teams.
On thursday, Phoenix Suns’ General Manager Ryan McDonough said that Devin Booker will now have decisions that the franchise needs to make.
Devon Booker has been “the guy” on this Suns team, and they do not want to lose him. Giving him this responsibility gives Booker a whole new power outside the game.
McDonough told AZ Central’s Scott Bordow,
“With his emergence and importance to not only what we’re doing in the short term but hopefully in the next decade-plus, I think it’s important to make him a partner in the process.”
One other player in this league that has had this power for a while is LeBron James. Even though his coaches have not said anything specific, it is pretty clear that James has this role on the team.
Booker, being 21, has already made it known to the league that he can ball. Let’s see if he can recruit.
If Booker can show other players how they do things in Phoenix, Arizona, he could bring in a lot of guys to help the process.
Booker is not “the guy” both on and off the court for this Phoenix franchise.
