DeAndre Hopkins Hands His Blind Mother Touchdown Ball and Share Special Moment

DeAndre Hopkins is one of the most talented players in the NFL and today his talents touched millions of hearts as he gave his mother Sabrina Greenlee his touchdown ball.

Sounds normal right? Not this time around. Greenlee raised Hopkins on her own as his father died when he was only 5 months old and in 2002 her life changed drastically.

In July 2002, Greenlee had a boiling concoction of lye and bleach thrown on her by Savannah Grant, age 24, with whom Greenlee caught her boyfriend having an affair. The attack resulted in the skin rapidly peeling off her neck, face, and back. Her boyfriend picked her up, placed her in his vehicle, and dropped her off at a nearby gas station.

The gas station attendant called 911, and Greenlee was rushed to a hospital and later flown to Augusta, Georgia, where she was placed in a medically induced coma for three weeks and had skin grafts applied to her face.

Greenlee suffered burns over 17 percent of her body. Her attacker was charged with assault and battery with intent to kill and received a 20-year sentence. She has been incarcerated since 2003. Hopkins’ mother was left completely blind as a result of this attack.

Every time DeAndre Hopkins scores, he finds his mom—who is blind—and gives her the touchdown ball. One of the best traditions in sports ❤️ B/R Gridiron

Hopkins credits her for his success. His mother held two jobs throughout his childhood and worked at an automotive factory.

Hopefully someday there is a documentary about Hopkins life, they deserve it. What an absolute touching moment.
