There is no question that the 2017-2018 Cleveland Browns are coming off of a historically bad year and they will go down in history as one of the worst teams of all time. But could the Cleveland Browns steal a playoff spot during the 2018-2019 NFL season?
With one of the most exciting off seasons a team has had in recent years and the addition of free agents Jarvis Landry, Tyrod Taylor, Demarious Randle, Carlos Hyde, E.J. Gaines will bring talent, production, and experience to the browns roster.
Not to mention the most exciting pick in the draft, taking Baker Mayfield as the number 1 overall pick in the draft.
The Cleveland Browns haven’t been to the playoffs since 2002. And they believe heisman winner and first overall pick, Baker Mayfield can be that franchise quarterback that they have been searching for, and take them past this 16 year slump.
As we learned from the Jaguars, rams, and the raiders. A teams season can go north or south in the blink of an eye. And the browns plan to make a playoff run in a weak AFC conference. The only “locks” you could call them for the playoffs are New England and Pittsburgh.
The only teams you can expect cleveland to fight for the playoffs with will be Los Angeles, Kansas City, and whoever doesn’t win the AFC South.
Cleveland has enough fire power now to get through Baltimore and Cincinnati, both being defensive teams who do not have a ton going on the offensive side of the ball. We will see if the the new Cleveland offense has enough firepower to outscore them in the tough divisional games.
As much as we would love to see the Browns in the playoffs next season. The bottom line is that the Browns are somewhere in the middle of the pact in an already bad AFC. A 7-9 win season is surely attainable if the browns can stay healthy and get a few breaks.
