College Rocks-Star Defender Matheiu Dismissed From LSU
Corner back, Tyrann Mathieu was dismissed from LSU for failing his 3rd drug test. Coach Wes Miles obviously did not want to release his Heisman trophy candidate, but he had to follow the team rules. Matheiu is one of the top defensive backs in the country, and was primed for a breakout season for the Tigers in 2012. The one thing that Mathieu needs to do without a doubt is transfer to another team. He will probably transfer to a smaller division one team, or even a division two team.
As we saw from former Florida Gator Janoris Jenkins, now second round pick of the St. Louis Rams, he was dismissed from Florida in 2011. Jenkins later bounced back and found a home in North Alabama, where he performed at an all-star level. Matheiu can find a home somewhere in the college world, and will terrorize Les Miles’s offense in 2012 if placed in the SEC.
Miles said on Friday, “We extended ourselves personally and professionally to him,” “He has really improved and has a chance to take some steps as a person.” “We extended ourself to the full length of the policy.”
“We’ll miss the guy,” Miles said. “The football team’s got to go on. We’ll have to fill the void.”
The LSU policy is , if an athlete fails three drug tests, you are off the team. He is a true junior, and can go to any school and transfer.
