Can Dexter Strickland be a force in the NBA?
- Updated: January 22, 2013
Dexter Strickland is not a name well known to the NCAA fan world for a few reasons. The Senior Gaurd out of UNC at Chapel Hill has not had the best luck when it comes to his collegiate career. He was a backup his freshman year when the Tarheels were in transition and did not make the NCAA tournament. His sophomore he was set to be the starting shooting guard with Zeller, Marshall, Barnes, and Henson but tore his ACL right before ACC play began. He did a similar thing the very next year so he has not yet got to show of all he has to give.
Heading into a dismal looking year for the Tarheels with all of their former starters, save Strickland gone, he has to step up and be the leader. He rotates from Shooting Guard to Point Guard with Junior Reggie Bullock. Strickland when healthy proves to be a great leader and amazing pure shooter. He plays the point guard position very well when needed. If he can stay healthy all of his senior year then expect him to be a late first round pickup to a team that needs a solid backup guard.
James McAdoo and Reggie Bullock are both expected to leave for the NBA as well and will probably go earlier than their teammate. Strickland is the most experienced member for the Tarheels and will be missed. Good luck in the NBA, you will be following in some great tarheel footsteps.
