Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Gets Official Multiplayer Reveal, Beta Details

As expected, Activision and Infinity Ward came through with the first gameplay trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s multiplayer – and it didn’t disappo9int.

The trailer can be found below, set to the tune of Metallica’s “Enter Sandman.” And it looks as visceral as you were expecting it to be, running at a beautiful 60 frames per second and featuring all sorts of firefight action, complete with all the bells and whistles you were expecting from the reboot of the series. It’s pretty amazing, to say the least. The action can be seen below.

The game will feature 2 vs. 2 Gunfight match-ups, along with 6 vs. 6 multiplayer matches, modes with 10 vs. 10 and 20 vs. 20 matches, and high-player events that will feature more than 100 players. And what’s more, they’ll be cross-play compatible with all systems. That means you can play Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC across the board, with no limitations.

“Our goal with Modern Warfare is to bring all gamers together from day one to play together,” said Patrick Kelly, Creative Director and co-Studio Head, Infinity Ward. “We’re doing away with the season pass; we’re delivering a mix of free maps, a ton of content following launch, and we’re developing the game for crossplay. We’re live-testing now, and fans will get to try for themselves next month in the Beta. This is a new day for Call of Duty multiplayer, and today is just the start — we have many more exciting reveals coming for fans that we can’t wait to share.”

What’s more, a beta will become available next month for those that pre-order the game. It’ll kick off on PlayStation 4 starting on September 12 and 13 with Early Access, before launching an Open Beta on September 14. Following that, a beta will open across all platforms for Early Access on September 19 and 20, before being available for three more days, from September 21 through 23.

“Our studio goal for Modern Warfare was to create a completely new experience and the most varied, customizable and realistic-feeling Call of Duty multiplayer,” said Geoff Smith, Multiplayer Gameplay Director, Infinity Ward. “Our design goal is for gamers to have fun by playing again and again with their friends, where the action will feel fresh, but also familiar for all players every time they jump in.”

Check out the trailer below and prepare for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare when it arrives on October 25 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
