Bills DE Chris Kelsay To Retire After 10 Seasons

Defensive End Chris Kelsay “throws in the towel” after ten seasons with the Bills. Rather than risk another injury, or go through another complicated coaching change, Kelsay decided that it would just be easier on everyone if he just retired.

“I just felt physically, and mentally, too, that I was ready to go in a different direction,” Kelsay said Wednesday during a conference call. “There is a sense of relief there. So I know that I made the right decision.”

This decision came this week after Kelsay spent months thinking about his future. Contrary to keeping the Bills guessing and waiting like so many players do, Kelsay came to the conclusion that he would just retire.

“As I kind of went back and forth on it, I believe if you think about retirement that much, you’re already retired,” Kelsay said. “So I’m happy with the decision and look forward to the next chapter of my life.”

I think that Kelsay made the right decision. He didn’t keep his fans waiting like so many pro players do. He made the honorable choice and just retired, and I think that took some guts.
