Do you remember? No, not the 21st night of September. Do you remember when Lane Johnson had this to say about the New England Patriots a few years back?

“They’re successful, but when they go to interviews, they act like (expletive) robots,” Johnson said. “Hey, stop being a (expletive) head. We can be cordial for a little bit. You only get to do this job one time, so let’s have fun while we’re doing it. “Not to be reckless, but I’d much rather have fun and win a Super Bowl than be miserable and win five Super Bowls. But hey, it is what it is.”

Well, Bill Belichick remembers. I knew Bill was petty, but I didn’t know he kept reciepts like this. I hope Lane had a fun afternoon though. Nothing like watching your offense fail to extend a 10 point lead in a game you had fully in your grasp. Take a look at the Eagles offensive production after their touchdown drive in the second quarter

Woof.

Then, to rub a little more salt in the wound, Stephon Gilmore had this to say about Eagles tight end Zach Ertz.

“Yeah, he was crying. He do that on film a lot. If you get into him, if he don’t get the ball or if he doesn’t get a call, he’ll cry. But he’s a good receiver, a good tight end. He’s a great player.”

“I gotta slow myself down a little bit because they’re so slow. They’re bigger, though. They push off a lot. Just gotta slow myself down a little bit, because I’m used to covering faster guys. If I do that, then I can play them pretty tight.”

My Lord, Gilly. Not only does Zach Ertz cry to officals when he doesn’t get his way (like he did on his highly questionable touchdown in the 4th quarter of Super Bowl 52) but he’s also hard to cover. Why is he hard to cover? Because Stephon Gilmore has to slow himself down to stay on him. Put this quote in the dictionary under “backhanded compliment”.

PS: The Eagles are 15-13 since Super Bowl 52 with one playoff win and a playoff loss. The Patriots are 23-6 with another Super Bowl victory in that same time frame. Lane said he’d rather win one Super Bowl having fun instead of five (now six) being “miserable”. It sure looks like he’ll hang on to his one and only ring. But hey, it is what it is, right Lane?
