During the big celebration in which the Houston Astros was sent to the World Series on a walk-off home run by Jose Altuve, one of the team’s front office personnel shouted something fishy to three female reporters—and it costed him his job.
Earlier today, assistant general manager Brandon Taubman was fired after shouting, ‘Thank God, We got Osuna! Thank (expletive) God We got Osuna!,’ to three female reporters in their locker room celebration after Game 6 of the ALCS.
The team first denied that the incident happened as it was first reported by Stephanie Apstein, a reporter for Sports Illustrated.
For those who don’t remember, Osuna served a 75-game suspension after he was accused and arrested back in 2018 for assault. He started his non-appealed suspension when he was with the Toronto Blue Jays.
A spokesperson for the MLB deemed Taubman’s comments to be inappropriate and unprofessional.
Down below is the full statement from the team’s Twitter account leading up to Taubman’s firing.
Being down two games to none, the team looks to turn the World Series around tomorrow as the Astros face the Washington Nationals in Washington, D.C. for Game 3.
