All Star Benches; Thoughts and Overview

The NBA on TNT recently revealed the benches for the Eastern Conference and Western Conference. The West has been winners of 2 consecutive years. Here are the 2013 All Star benches:

WEST -

Tim Duncan: A 14-time NBA All Star just trailing Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett who both have 15 appearances, the greatest PF of all time in the NBA. This a very great and wise selection in my opinion because Duncan can show some leadership for this bench along with Spurs teammate Tony Parker.

LaMarcus Aldridge: Aldridge; whose competing in his second career NBA All Star game is a young PF still experiencing the game at hand. He is the franchise player of the Portland Trailblazers as they try and squeeze their way into the eighth seed in the Western Conference fighting for a playoff spot. This is well deserved for a player of Aldridge’s caliber as he is averaging 20.6 PPG, 8.8 RPG, and 2.5 APG.

James Harden: Up and rising star James Harden will be heading in Houston to represent the Houston Rockets as this will be his first All Star game. Harden who was originally with the OKC Thunder was traded to the Houston Rockets as the Thunder front office and Harden failed to reach a deal. Thus resulting in Kevin Martin joined OKC. Then he would be paired up with Jeremy Lin as he has punched his ticket to the All Star game averaging 25.8 PPG, 4.5 RPG, and 5.4 APG.

David Lee: A rebounding machine David Lee is well deserved for this All Star roster spot. He has been one the reasons for the Warriors great 2012-2013 run. Lee has been averaging 19.6 PPG, 10.8 RPG, and 3.7 APG. In my opinion he is one of the VERY underrated players in the NBA.

Tony Parker: Tony Parker has been the high scorer for the San Antonio Spurs as he is averaging 19.8 PPG, 2.9 RPG, and 7.4 APG. A very great duo with teammate Tim Duncan. Deserving but I would have liked to see Clippers sixth man Jamal Crawford take his place.

Zach Randolph: Randolph has been playing OUTSTANDING in my eyes. I have watched him play so many times this season and I feel he deserved this because he has been averaging double double after double double. If he’s not needed for scoring then he will give you hustle and hard work on the court. Randolph is averaging 16 PPG, 11.6 RPG, and 1.4 APG.

Russell Westbrook: Westbrook one of the young PG’s showing us why he has a bight future in this league. He is one of the reasons why OKC are number one in the NBA. Russell Westbrook averaging 22.7 PPG, 5.3 RPG, and 8.1 APG. Westbrook more of a scoring and explosive PG rather then a pass first PG but that is still very deserving.

EAST -

Chris Bosh: Bosh has had experience in the All Star game in which I believe will serve him as a role model. If you ask me I believe Bosh was a last minute decision to be an All Star because of rising center Brooke Lopez who was an All Star snub.

Tyson Chandler: I definitely agree with Chandler as an All Star because of his defense. He might not be an offensive threat for the New York Knicks but this man can defend anywhere from the paint to the low post. So I give this decision an A+!

Paul George: What can I say, George has been phenomenal for the Pacers. Ever since Danny Granger went down at the begging of the season George has stepped up and proved why he’s the next new face of the Indiana Pacer’s with his scoring and defense.

Jrue Holiday: Again, another breakout talent since Andre Iguodala left Philadelphia in the Dwight Howard trade he has been one the rising PG’s of the future with his scoring proving why the offense should be ran through him.

Kyrie Irving: Call me crazy but this is a questionable decision. I just don’t feel like this kid is ready for the All Star level of play. Sure he’s averaging 23+ PPG but I just don’t feel like he’s ready. I feel like maybe Brandon Jennings or Deron Williams should have taken his place.

Joakim Noah: Definitely agree with this, he is the heart and soul of this Bull’s franchise as he has proved he can step up while Derrick Rose recovers from a torn ACL. Noah proved all season with his defense and scoring.

Luol Deng: Once again I believe he secured his spot on the All Star team because of defense and scoring 17+ PPG and not to mention leading the league in minutes per game.

All Star Snubs -

Brandon Jennings: I felt like Jennings is playing very well for All Star level averaging 18+ PPG, he can pass and score. He is very quick and versatile as well. I would have definitely voted for him for All Star bench if I could.

Monta Ellis: Another great player snubbed. I feel bad for Ellis because every year he gets snubbed because he’s such an underrated scorer. He deserved no doubt for me.

Brook Lopez: Lopez, a center with great size and athleticism deserved this more then mostly any center in the East. He’s proved he can be a great low post scorer and defender. Sure he’s been hit with the injury bug last season and his lack of rebounding but I still feel like he deserved it.

J.R. Smith: I may not be a Knicks fan, but I still give credit where credit is due. Smith is a key piece for Mike Woodson and the New York Knick’s bench averaging around 18 PPG. He’ll be an All Star for sure.

Stephen Curry: Curry, averaging 20 PPG is one of the main reasons for the Warriors success. How do you not select him as an All Star?! He has a VERY HIGH three point shooting percentage. Seriously coaches I was furious because he is such an underrated PG who deserves this spot more then Tony Parker if you ask me.

Jamal Crawford: Crawford is currently averaging 16 PPG, two RPG, and three APG. He was a crucial reason for the Clippers very long winning streak and is a well deserved selection for sixth man of the year. So in my opinion he is the second biggest All Star snub behind Stephen Curry.
