All Eyes On The Rookie Showdown In D.C.

The 2012 draft class has seen three of it’s rookies make the playoffs. Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, and Russell Wilson. The must see game this weekend, you have two rookie quarterbacks that have quarterback ratings over 100. That’s great for veterans, let alone a couple Rookies.
Former Heisman trophy winner Robert Griffin III has been impressive this year. He threw for 3,200 yards, 20 touchdowns, 5 INTs, completing 65.6% of his passes, and a passer rating of 102.4. The second overall pick has arguably the greatest rookie quarterback season ever, he didn’t throw for as many yards as Andrew Luck, but it he didn’t turn the ball over as much.
Russell Wilson has had just as good a season as any rookie ever. He tied Peyton Manning’s rookie record of 26 touchdown passes. The third round pick has been nothing short of amazing. Russell Wilson threw for 3,118 yards, 26 touchdowns, 10 INTs, completed 64.1% of his passes, and a passer rating of exactly 100.0.
These two rookie have great running games. Russell Wilson has Marshawn Lynch. Marshawn Lynch has had his best season to date this year. His running will help open things up for Russell Wilson and Seattle. Russell Wilson has made the most of receivers and a bad Redskins secondary can help him have a big day.
The Seattle Seahawks defense is one of the most physical defenses in the NFL and one of the top 5 in the NFL. Corners Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner will help to slow down the Redskins receivers. Red Bryant will man the middle to stop the run, and Bruce Irvin will be in pursuit of RGIII on the edges.
Robert Griffin III has a great running back himself in Alfred Morris, the single season record holder for rushing yards in Redskins history. He passed Clinton Portis for that honor. In any other season, Alfred Morris would have been the run away rookie of the years award winner. Not bad for a sixth round pick out of Florida Atlantic. He ran for over 1,600 yards. Robert has some nice weapons to throw too in Pierre Garcon, Leornard Hankerson, and a revived Santana Moss.
The Washington Redskins have a nice defense, but their secondary is their weakest link. If the Redskins secondary could hold up; the Redskins will have a chance. The Redskins really have to focus on stopping Wilson and Lynch if they can slow up one of them, the Redskins can win.
This will be one of those games that will be talked about for years to come. Let’s hope this game lives up to the hype it’s getting.
Prediction: Washington over Seattle 27-24
