 Alabama (3) vs Wisconsin (20)

7 p.m. Saturday; AT&T Stadium, Arlington;  Line: Alabama by 11 1/2 (at 10:50 am Central)

Alabama might be one quarterback short in tonight’s home battle with the Badgers of Wisconsin.  Alabama still has not officially named a starting quarterback for the game.  Senior Jake Coker, last year’s backup, seems to be the guy.  However, he has yet to seize the job.  That’s opened the door for junior Alec Morris or sophomore Cooper Bateman.  Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban likes to go with one quarterback but the belief is he might use this game to find out which on will get most of the snaps this year.

Don’t doubt the Tide’s line play here but it could be another  team that has some thick and sturdy linemen that take the SEC contender down. But this version of Wisconsin, especially on the offensive line is where the Badgers might let their fans down.  A rash of injuries have given Head Coach Paul Chryst (19-19) only two o-lineman that have played in a college game, tackle Tyler Marz (27 starts) and center Dan Voltz (20 starts).  The Tide’s defensive front seven, loaded with future NFL talent will make it hard for the Wisconsin offense to make yards.  It will be a long night for the Badgers to put up any significant points.    Let’s think a close defensive struggle for each quarterback with Bama’s crowd at Jerry’s World giving them a home field advantage and the running of their backs to much to overcome in dominating the time clock.

Notes for the game:  Coach Nick Saban is 4-1 against Big Ten teams in his eight seasons at Alabama. The lone loss came last season when Ohio State upset the Crimson Tide, 42-35, in the semifinals of the College Football Playoff; Tide coach Nick Saban was 1-2 against Wisconsin in his five seasons at Michigan State.

Fred’s Prediction: Alabama 20, Wisconsin 6
