Cleveland Cavaliers hire David Blatt as head coach
As Dan Gilbert and the rest of the front office prepare for the June 26th NBA draft, the Cleveland Cavaliers made headlines today by hiring David Blatt, the former head coach of Israel’s Maccabi Tel Aviv, over former player and current Los Angeles Clipper’s assistant coach Tyronn Lue. Apparently, they aren’t quite done with Lue yet, and plan on offering him an assistant coach job which will end up being an upgrade to the one he has now. Although, early reports say that Tyronn Lue will decline those offerings, it will still be interesting to see if the Cavaliers offer enough money to him in attempt to lure him in. On a negative note, Chris Broussard of ESPN states that LeBron James would not consider joining the Cavaliers if Blatt was named the head coach, so we will have to see how accurate Broussard’s reports are once LeBron makes his decision.
