According to MLB Trade Rumors via Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca (tweet below), 35-year-old Jason Bay is likely to retire soon. Bay got his big league break with Pittsburgh, where he was the face of the franchise until he was traded to Boston in a three-team deal that sent Manny Ramirez to the LA Dodgers.
Jason Bay says while he hasn’t filed any papers yet, he can’t see a scenario in which he comes back to play, so he’s essentially retiring.

Bay joined the Mets on a 4 year/$66 million deal after having some success in Boston, but the move was a disaster, resulting in his contract being terminated early. He then signed a 1-year deal with Seattle, who released him after he hit .204/.298/.393.
Bay had a career line of .266/.360/.481 and 222 home runs and made the most of an impressive eleven year tenure.
