Danny Granger Hoping to Return Friday

Indianapolis, IN - According to Candace Buckner of the Indianapolis Star, Danny Granger has targeted Friday night for a return date. The Pacers will be hosting the Charlotte Bobcats, which would be a very favorable season debut for the former All-Star. His Pacers have started the season off incredibly hot, and are sitting at 19-3 following their win over the Miami Heat last night.

Granger missed all of last season due to a knee injury and had surgery to fix the issue late in the season last year. That issue was past him when he seriously strained his calf in the preseason. He has missed much longer than Indiana originally thought, but it appears that he’s back to 100% health and is working to get his conditioning back up before he steps on the NBA court against real competition.

“There’s a good chance. A very good chance. I’m working on it everyday. I’ll have a minutes limit, strictly because I have to play my way into shape. We don’t have enough practice for me to practice my way into shape. It’s literally going to be in games where I am playing where I get in shape. My shot feels great.” - Danny Granger

Throughout his eight-year NBA career, Granger has posted averages of 18.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game. The Pacers could use his scoring ability off the bench to help bolster an already strong bench. Indiana is one of, if not the best team in the NBA. Adding Granger to their already strong rotation will make them even more dangerous. He may not be the All-Star caliber player that he was a few years back, but he’s still a guy that can score the basketball at a high clip.

Indiana Pacers fans have been waiting to hear positive news on Granger, and they finally have. Don’t be surprised to see Danny Granger take the court on Friday night against the Bobcats to make his season debut. The Pacers are ready to have him back and it will be very interesting to see how he performs and just what kind of player he can become over the next few weeks.
