Carmelo Anthony Recruiting Rajon Rondo to Knicks

New York, NY - According to Jason Jordan of the USA Today, New York Knicks small forward Carmelo Anthony has been talking with Rajon Rondo and recruiting him to the Knicks. Anthony has been hoping for a star player to join him in New York and it appears that he is taking an active role in making that happen. Rajon Rondo is currently coming off of a torn ACL and is close to recovery.

Rajon Rondo has been rumored quite often in trade rumors and will be a free agent in 2015. The Knicks have been very active looking for a point guard and were expected to be involved in the Chris Paul sweepstakes last offseason. New York wants to do everything that they can to keep Carmelo Anthony on the roster and that may very well mean making a move to acquire Rondo from Boston.

“Whether he stays in Boston or not who knows. I know, talking to Melo, he’s recruiting Rajon to come to New York. Melo thinks he’ll come too. You never know about that stuff though. I think either way, Rajon will be fine.” - Rondo’s High School Coach Steve Smith

Acquiring Rajon Rondo would be a huge move for a struggling New York Knicks basketball team. They would be able to put the basketball into Rondo’s hands and have him make plays for both Anthony and the rest of the team. Carmelo Anthony has been very vocal about his displeasure in the Knicks’ effort on a nightly basis, which is something that Rondo could help fix as well.

Rondo has a very interesting all-around game. His offense is not all that impressive, but he’s able to find way to score the basketball despite that. He’s one of the best passers in the NBA which would be a big addition to the Knicks and is also a great defensive point guard. Adding a player that is as rounded as Rondo is would be a huge acquisition for the New York franchise. Carmelo Anthony feels that Rajon Rondo is leaning towards joining him in New York, and if that happens it will push the Knicks into the top of the Eastern Conference.
