Chicago, IL - According to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune, Ben Gordon would be very open to returning to the Bulls when he reaches free agency this coming offseason. While he is not the best player anymore, he can still supply bench scoring at a high level. It would be a move that Bulls fan would love to see, as Ben Gordon was a fan favorite back in his early NBA years.
“I had a lot of success in my time there. I’m not in a position to rule anybody out.” - Ben Gordon
Chicago doesn’t have too much cap room to work with, so they would likely offer Ben Gordon a veteran’s minimum deal. If his quite above says anything about hi mindset, money will not be the biggest factor in where he decides to sign. It would certainly be an interesting story to keep an eye on if the Bulls did decide to bring him back.
“I’m at the point now where I would love to win a championship before I’m done playing. I won one in high school and college so I want to put myself in that type of situation. I feel it would complete my career.” - Ben Gordon
Ben Gordon has fallen out of favor with the Charlotte Bobcats and has lost his place in the rotation. It’s obvious that he’s looking to head back to the team and city that he was most comfortable with to try and finish his career strong. The Bulls have been looking for more scoring off of the bench for the last couple of years, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them at least explore the possibility.
Gordon is currently averaging 4.0 points, 1.0 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game with Charlotte. He is in his 10th NBA season and probably won’t be around for too terribly much longer. That being said, a reunion with the Bulls could be exactly what his career needs.
