Brian Cushing gets 6 year extension worth over 55 Million.
- Updated: September 3, 2013
Over the past 4 seasons Brian Cushing has been one of the most fierce linebackers in the game. After an injury sidelined him early in the season against the Jets; one of the biggest pieces of the Texans defense was not allowed to play until next season. Brian Cushing has played 3 full seasons in the NFL. In two of the three seasons he has over 100 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, and 2 interceptions which puts him into the elite status of linebackers. This deal will keep him on the roster until 2019 where he will still only be 32 years old.
Was the 55.6M deal worth it? Yes.. for sure! The Texans defense already has big headliners like Ed Reed and J.J. Watt, but with the extension of Cushing they can easily remain as one of the best defenses in the league. If Brian Cushing can keep his 100 tackles, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, and five sacks status, him along with help from defensive player of the year J.J. Watt expect this team to be stopping the run frequently and bat down more passes then completed. Also remember Cushing is only 26 and has a good 10 years ahead of him in this league.
