Beckett to Undergo Season-Ending Surgery

Josh Beckett, pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, is said to undergo season-ending surgery. Sources say the injury had caused the pitcher to think about retirement, but is going to take the route of surgery and hopes to be ready by next year’s spring training.

In 43 1/3 innings for the Dodgers before he was shut down, Beckett threw to a 5.19 ERA. This isn’t much of a loss to the Dodgers, as he wasn’t really helping them by pitching.
