Alexander Ovechkin Wins Hart Trophy

Alexander Ovechkin had a magical 48 game season leading the NHL in goals with 32, Ovechkin led his team to the Southeast Division title, and into the playoffs, where they eventually lost to New York in seven games. Head Coach Adam Oates told USA Today ” Ovie was a key to our success as a team building to a bright future for the Washington Capitals.”

Ovechkin was top 5 in every offensive category in the NHL Рgoals, assists, points and games played. He started the season slow, and so did the Capitals, who, at one point, were the worst team in the East. However, as soon as Ovechkin and Holtby heated up, so did the rest of the  team, playing as one of the best down the stretch.

The Capitals head into a huge offseason in which they look to add another defenseman to help Mike Green, while offensively they look to add depth to the four lines. with eleven million dollars in cap space, they look to add more offense with a mix of solid defensive forwards. If they have a good offseason, the Capitals could be early favorites for next years Stanley Cup, with MVP Alex Ovechkin leading the way.
