Brayan Villarreal’s Family Survives Robbery Attempt

Villarreal is a huge part of the Detroit Tigers bullpen, but Friday he got a text from his mom about an attempted robbery that took place at the family home in Venezuela.

Villarreal told the Detroit Free Press ” I was scared and mad to say the least, but what could I do?”

A¬†neighbor alerted the police after she saw¬†suspicious¬†activity. Villarreal said “Thank god for the¬†neighbor¬†or anything¬†could’ve¬†been alot worse.”¬†Venezuela authorities tell Villarreal they have no reason for the robbery attempt.

Villarreal pitched today in the Houston and¬†Detroit game. When asked if he thought about it he said “No, When I step on the mound I want to¬†focus all my attention on the batter.” ¬†When asked if his family was targeted because of him being a professional baseball player he said “No I don’t think the robbers knew me.” ¬†Villarreal’s family is coming to his Florida home to stay. He said ” They’re not going back there.”
