What’s Wrong with Mason Crosby?

Packers’ kicker Mason Crosby is struggling this NFL season, he has missed 22 field goals ( 17/39), which is 59% his kicks. Many Packer fans are wondering what is wrong with Crosby this season?
I think it really just comes down to the mental edge,” McCarthy said on Monday, amidst reiterating multiple times that Crosby will remain the Packers kicker despite two more missed field goal attempts on Sunday that have left him having converted just 12 of his last 24 tries. “We need to get that back.”
Mason missed two field goals in a victory against the Chicago Bears from 42 and 43 yards, missing wide right on both.
Slocum said it comes down to Crosby trusting all of his preparation, both during the week and before the game, and carrying that trust into game action on each kick.
“He kicked fluidly, he made the field goals in pregame, made all of his field goals last week in practice, and looked good doing it,” Slocum said. “I think (the struggling) indicates that he’s fighting to do it right.”
People have been wondering ‘When are the Packers going to get rid of Mason Crosby?’, well they have to wait another week because Coach Mike McCarthy says Crosby is still his guy.
“We are not changing our kicker, so you can write that down right now,” McCarthy said, per Lori Nickel of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “He is our guy. He needs to make those kicks; he knows that.”
I admire McCarthy for his player loyalty – which is rare these days. That said, the team has to come first and it’s only a matter of time before Crosby costs the team a game because of a missed FG. The Packers need to bring in another kicker because until Crosby gets his confidence back you can’t trust him to win your team a game.
