Will Concussions Keep Jahvid Best Out For The 2012 Season?
- Updated: June 8, 2012
Jahvid Best, ranked number 6 on ProSportsExtra’s top 10 Detroit athletes of today, but will he even be able to play this coming season due to past concussions?
NFL insider Alex Whiteman said: “The thing that is stopping Jahvid Best is his durability. If Best is knocked out for another full season, all the shifty Cal-product will be is an empty roster space; which is something that the Lions’ don’t need. I see the Lions investing heavily in the tough running game with Mikel Leshoure if Best were to be out for the season.”
I AM PREPARING YOU TO WATCH HIS FIRST CONCUSSION BELOW.
YIKES! After seeing Best get hurt like that I can not even image him playing in another game. Now his focus will be not repeating these concussions in 2012 with the Lions’.
With Jahvid having three concussions in his career, this is going to be his most important season in his career. With last season having played 6 games due to his concussions, we will have to see if Best can sustain another injury. If he can stay healthy, Best will be a powerful force for the Lions.
“The first OTA, I felt like I was a rookie again,” he said. “I didn’t know what it felt like to go through a practice, it has been so long. I’m excited to just be back out there.” BEST SAID
“If you get hit, you get hit,” he said. “Boxers can’t stop from getting knocked out. You just got to play.”
“Jahvid is a big-play guy,” Johnson said. “He’s going to help us a lot — as long as he can stay concussion free”
For Lions fans, this is good news. Mikel Leshoure is a talented back, but he has yet to prove it in a NFL game being out last season with a torn Achilles. This season, I see Best getting about 50% of the carries, while 30% of it goes to Leshoure and 20% to Kevin Smith.
Hopefully somehow Detroit can turn this around and have a wonderful season!
